Nowhere in Africa

In 1938 Jettel and her five-year-old daughter barely managed to flee Germany to Africa, where their husband and father Walter has settled down. After the “civilized” Europe Jettel and Walter not at once got used to the fact that they will spend indefinite period of time on a remote farm in Kenya. And Regina quickly got used to the new life, she learned the new language and became friends with the local people. The beauty of the “black continent” is seriously underwhelming her. She hardly remembers Europe. But for her parents it is more difficult to get used to it.  And only because of love for their daughter they begin to embrace the beauty of the local landscapes. The events shown in the film are autobiographical and are based on the book of the same name by Stefanie Zweig.

Fortuneless bank robber named Zeki Müller gets out of prison after thirteen months. To get to the loot, Zeki is seeking employment as the school janitor. But as a result of slight misunderstanding he works as a substitute teacher instead. He gets the most wildest and crazy class in the whole school – 10B. Using several unusual methods, the former robber suddenly finds a common language with the students. At the same in the night he is trying to get access to the hidden plunder and is falling in love with his coworker Lisi.

Michaela lives in the religious family with his kind but weak-willed father and cold-hearted and callous mother.  Despite many years of fighting against epilepsy, Michaela decides to leave her home and go to university. Here she breaks with the religion and her family, in which she always felt sheltered, under the influence of freedom, love to Stefan and friendship with Hanna. As a result, her illness has worsened. But it weren’t ordinary epileptic attacks, but horrifying hallucinations. Frightened by the fact that she could be sent back to her parents’ house, she confesses to the priest, who convinces her that she is possessed by the devil. Stefan and Hanna urged her to go to a psychiatrist, but they can not break her faith and moral standards in her family, and leave her to fate.

The law level of performance at the school, parents send their 14-year-old doughter Mika for the summer to the farm to the pretty tough grandmother. However, there is in addition to study the books she suddenly finds something else to do. She finds a wild stallion named Ostwind in an isolated barn. No one on the farm are able to tame it. And as if by magic, Mika, who feels attachment to the horse, one night sneaks up to the barn. Thus their unusual friendship begins. Can she tame Ostwind despite everything?

It is pleasing to note, that the film tells not about the achievements in equestrian sport, but about the friendship between the girl and the animal, about the understanding of each other on the level, unreachable for the others.

It was summer of 1968, student riots, the Rolling Stones, bell-bottoms, mini-skirts, the sexual revolution. While Germany is entering a new era of freedom, 14-year-old Wolfgang against his mother’s will with the filing of a jealous stepfather, enters the camp for troubled teens in remote area Freistadt in Upper Austria, in the northern part of the Mühlviertel. Outwardly welcoming owner of the Brockmann house undertakes re-education of the rookie , but instead of going to school or to class, he has been forced to work hard.  Wolfgang is against the labour in inhumane conditions and insidious educational methods of petty tyrant, and he is getting beaten half to death as a reward.

In the middle of the action there is seventeen-year-boy Stefan, wakes up in the hospital after unsuccessful attempt to commit suicide. Further, we finf out all the circumstances preceding leading up to how he got here. As it turned out, not so long ago, everything was normal in the life of the main characters. As long as he realized his homosexuality.That’s when he realized that he is in love with his friends. Suddenly unfathomable feeling turns his head and he was forced to admit to his friend about his real orientation. He decided to make it in not an usual way – he kisses his friend. It is not difficult to predict the reaction of the boy. Roughness and the sharpness of the friend hurt the protagonist and he takes father’s car in despair to start it and never stops.
